Sodium Hydroxide NaOH, is an inorganic compound also known as lye or caustic soda. It is a white solid compound consisting of sodium cations Na and hydroxide anions OH.

 How does it Work?

Sodium Hydroxide is used in water treatment in conjunction with chlorine when used in water treatment.

Advantages of Use

Advantages of using PAC in water treatment include increased coagulation, and minimal pH shift. Because of the strong coagulation abilities, very low amounts are needed to achieve the desired effect, making it cost-effective and also safe for potable water applications. Aluminium is bound in a polymer form; so less residual aluminium transfers to clarified water then using Aluminium Sulphate or Alum. Hence it is safer for use in drinking water applications. PAC is considered a non-DG under Australian Chemical Regulations.
